Students practice taking Blood Pressures at a Day in the Life ProgramOur mission is to connect students in Arkansas with careers in healthcare by creating fun and innovative programs involving health-related professions.  We hope to inform students in primary grades through college about the exciting and rewarding healthcare careers that exist in the Natural State.  We have one recruiter at each of the Arkansas Area Health Education Centers (AHECs).  To find the recruiter in your area, use this health careers recruiter directory.

Below are a few of our outreach programs:

ArkansasHealthCareers.com

Our website at www.arkansashealthcareers.com contains inspiring videos, informative articles, and interactive applications, all designed to help students find the perfect career in healthcare for them.

Health Careers Presentations

Given onsite by our recruiters, these presentations can be requested for groups, clubs, or school classes (eg, Biology, Chemistry, Physics).  Length and subject matter can be tailored to your needs.

A Day in the Life... Programs

These are one-day events that typically focus on one of a variety of careers, such as nursing, radiology, etc.  They are given periodically throughout the year and have both lecture content as well as hands-on activities.

Collegiate Advising

Many of our recruiters work with college and pre-med students to provide tours of the UAMS campus, practice MCAT exams, volunteer service opportunities, course advising, mock interviews, etc.  Contact your recruiter for more info.

M*A*S*H and CHAMPS Programs

Medical Application of Science for Health (M*A*S*H) and Community Health Applied in Medical Public Service (CHAMPS) summer enrichment programs are designed for junior and senior high school students.  Ranging from 1 to 2 weeks, students are given opportunities to learn about a number of health-related careers, shadow health professionals, and receive hands-on training that enhances their experience in the healthcare field.
