Medical Interpreter Program Requirements

Prior to acceptance for training, candidate's skills in the second language must be evaluated through an oral examination.

You may be EXEMPT from the language skills test IF you submit proof of a college degree earned in BOTH your native and the English language. Proof of completion must be submitted with your registration.

Medical Interpreter Certificate Program

Entrance Requirements

  • Mandatory interpreter's working languages skills assessment

  • Proof of mastery of medical terminology in all working languages

  • Two years of college or similar education

  • Completed registration form

  • Resumé and one letter of recommendation

  • Ability to complete the 48-hour course within 6 days

Non-Medical Interpreting Course

Entrance Requirements

  • General skills mandatory assessment in speaking both languages

  • Ability to perform as required for employment

  • Completed registration form

  • Resume and one letter of recommendation

  • Evidence of prior education

  • Ability to complete the 16-hour course within 2 days (with at least an 80% final grade)
