Special Tract: HOSPITALIST TRACK

Third year residents can do electives with the hospitalist medical group at CHRISTUS St. Michael Health Care Center.  The experience will enhance an already robust inpatient medicine experience that all residents receive at AHEC Southwest.  The special hospitalist tract will enable the graduating resident to be a very attractive candidate for any hospitalist company in the United States.  The resident will have an opportunity to become comfortable taking care of intensive care patients, patients on artificial ventilation, and develop competence in procedures such as central and arterial line placement.  The faculty for this rotation includes board certified internal medicine physicians with an interest in building a strong family medicine hospitalist manpower base.
