The Advanced Certificate and Bachelor of Science degree programs in Diagnostic Medical Sonography are offered in UAMS AHEC Southwest.
Admission to the Advanced Certificate (basic) program requires applicants to have completed a two-year allied health educational program that is patient-care related and be certified as a Registered Nurse, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Radiologic Technologist, Respiratory Therapist, or Paramedic In addition, applicants must complete the 17 semester credits (SC) of specified prerequisite courses. The curriculum consists of 54 SC of specified course work offered over three (3) semesters and one (1) summer of full-time study.
Admission to the Bachelor of Science program requires successful completion of 52 SC of specified prerequisite courses. Prior allied health educational program completion and/or certification is not required for admission to the Bachelor of Science degree program. The professional curriculum for the program requires 72 SC of specified course work offered over four (4) semesters and one (1) summer of full-time study.
