Respiratory Care
BS Degree Program
The Bachelor of Science Degree in CardioRespiratory Care in Texarkana is a traditional program consisting of two year (four semesters and one summer semester) full time curriculum. Courses are presented in a variety of available media: Interactive video, web, WIMBA (a live computer lecture format), laboratory, and clinical practicum. Clinical practicum courses are available at local hospitals and clinics. Some travel to Little Rock is required for neonatal and pediatric experience (12 days total). A three-year part time option is available to those students who need additional prerequisites or for those who wish to take a reduced course workload.
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the Entry-Level Respiratory Care Practitioner examination (earn the CRT credential) and are also eligible to take the Advanced Registry examination (earn the RRT credential). Successful completion of these examinations and the professional coursework allow graduates to apply for a license in the state in which they wish to practice.
