About Regional Programs

UAMS Regional Programs is dedicated to improving health care throughout Arkansas, with an emphasis on:

UAMS Regional Programs is composed of the statewide AHEC Program and the Center for Rural Health located on the UAMS campus.

UAMS Regional Programs also provides guidance and assistance to students at all levels, from junior and senior high school through college, graduate school, and medical school. This support includes residency programs and preceptorships to help medical students gain experience in family medicine and rural health issues.

Additionally, UAMS Regional Programs supports physicians and practices in rural areas. We provide and coordinate continuing medical education (CME) for health care professionals. We also work with programs that help recruit physicians and health care professionals for rural hospitals and practices.

The UAMS Regional Programs Advisory Council offers guidance and consults on the planning and implementation of our activities. The Council members provide valuable input based on their knowledge and experience with the various issues pertinent to healthcare in the state.
